For the love of wine

As big natural wine lovers, my partner and I tried to get into the industry. We were young and innocent and had, what we thought was, a brilliant start-up idea: Vinocle. We quickly realised that the wine world is one made of never ending layers of logistic and legal complexities. Wine producers, buyers, exporters, delivery companies, local authorities, governments, food and drink agencies… they all have their way to add to the madness and we simply couldn’t find a way through it.

That said, the branding and visuals I created for it were pretty cool. I’ve based the logo on the shape of the wine glasses we have at home and the main picture is one I’ve taken in a vineyard while visiting Czechia.

Catch them all

After a lovely trip in Sicily (2014), I felt the need to learn more about wine. I wanted to know which one to order, what were my taste... That’s when I discovered Vivino. It’s a great app, really demystifying the wine nebula to everyone. At the time, on the profile page, users could collect stamps along their wine journey. From the 1st wine they scanned with the app, to the first french wine they drank and so on. The concept was cool, but the badge themselves weren’t (sorry to whoever designed them). I then took a personal challenge to redo them in a simpler style. I’ve never been the best iconographer, but that was my attempt.

I did share them with Vivino, but never heard back. Today this feature has been disabled, but you can still find me there!

Let’s go on a trip

In the mid 2010s I was looking to change job, but having spent the past 4 years in the same startup, my Portfolio lacked diversity. Travelling is my next favourite thing (after wine, although it pairs greatly), and so I had created this fictional Wanderkey company, to book deals on travel destinations. I used personal photography from my trips for the project.

It did help me get my next job, at least as a conversation starter, so thank you Wanderkey.
